Rise Together: Kenya 2025

Rise Together: Kenya
February 18–26, 2025

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime journey into the heart of Tirzah’s global movement. This special trip invites you to not only visit Tirzah’s empowerment programs in Kenya — but to meet, explore with, and learn from our incredible Global Leaders, who are coming from over 21 countries around the world to gather in Nairobi for Tirzah’s Global Gathering.

By joining this trip, you directly sponsor a Global Leader’s travel and participation in Tirzah’s first-ever Global Gathering — a historic convening of women leaders from 21 countries. The Global Gathering is a week of training, encouragement, and connection designed to equip these leaders with new skills, foster cross-cultural collaboration, and ignite even greater impact in their communities.

You'll see Tirzah’s Core Initiatives in action: small business training, leadership development, and local sustainability efforts that are equipping women to break cycles of poverty in their communities. You’ll stay at the Homecare Retreat Center, a Tirzah sustainability project creating local funding for programs empowering women and children impacted by poverty and HIV.

This is more than a vision trip — it’s an invitation into deep, personal connection with the women leading change across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and beyond. You’ll witness firsthand the dreams, resilience, and leadership of women who are transforming their nations — and your participation will directly sponsor one of these Global Leaders to attend the Gathering, making this experience one of shared impact and transformation.

Enjoy unforgettable wildlife safaris, hands-on artisan workshops, and curated cultural tours alongside our global community. Stay in inspiring, locally-owned accommodations — including the Homecare Retreat Center and Ololo Lodge overlooking Nairobi National Park — and experience East Africa through the eyes of those who call it home.

This trip is designed for Tirzah advocates — both men and women — who want a meaningful, insider experience in Kenya while walking alongside Tirzah’s global sisterhood. We hope you will join us for this historic moment of hope, leadership, and global connection!

"The holistic approach to a Tirzah Trip to Kenya is like none I’ve ever experienced. The respectful, intentional care for the community and country of Kenya burst through in every detail - in our accommodations, the food we ate, and the sites we visited. The local women leaders and artisans we sat with, shared not only the beauty of Kenya, and its diverse cultures but also how their ongoing work is beautifully impacting their communities. It is a privilege to come alongside and support them as they help women rise so the world will rise with them.”

July 25 / Day Four: Spend the day with Tirzah's partner program that supports women through small business training. Our time promises to be full of singing, and testimonies. Hear about the impact of the empowerment program, and skills training demonstrations. Meet the women who are participating in our small business training program. Lunch is at Entoto Park, followed by afternoon home visits! We will split into small groups to visit women and meet their families. July 26 / Day Five: After breakfast, we will head to Sabahar, a weaving village, to learn how the lives of women artisans have been impacted for generations. In the afternoon, we will visit the local markets with our hosts to peruse traditional crafts. Our evening meal will be spent with the mentors and mentees from Tirzah's Emerging Leader Program. Hear the dreams of these women for the future of their nation!

July 27 / Day Six: Fly to Nairobi after breakfast. Check into the Homecare Retreat Center, a Tirzah sustainability initiative owned by our local partner and renovated in 2021. Local artisans make everything at the retreat center. Profits from staying at the center are a sustainable source of local funding for the empowerment programs that impact women and children affected by poverty and HIV in the Kibera Informal Settlement. We will settle into the retreat center, wander the gardens, and enjoy this special place built to foster prayer and connection to God. Our local hosts, Global Leaders Judy and Esther Mbugua, will join us for dinner.

Learn from the artisans about traditional artisan crafts: jewelry, wood, leather, baskets, pottery, and more. You'll have a chance to shop and support the women you meet. We will share lunch together and hear testimonies from the artisans about the impact of fair trade. Practice making pottery or jewelry with the artisans. Then, return to the retreat center for an afternoon to relax, journal, and rest. Dinner at the retreat center will be with Jenny Nuccio, Tirzah Director of Global Sustainability, where she will share about the Impact Ignited Course. Jenny teaches our Global Leaders to be forward-thinking as they prepare to launch strategic plans for sustainable business models that impact women. Learn about future impact businesses in the works through Tirzah's global network.

July 30 / Day Nine: The morning will be spent at the Kibera Informal Settlement, where women impacted by poverty and HIV are supported. Meet the young teen moms in our newest empowerment initiative that equips them to pursue their dreams and provide for their families. Share songs, testimonies, and a meal with our sisters. Then head to the Nairobi National Park to meet our safari guides! Finally, we will drive through the park to Ololo Lodge, our home, for our final two nights in Kenya. Enjoy farm-to-table meals and learn about their sustainability efforts with the lodge, farm, and community outreach.

July 31 / Day Ten: Enjoy an early morning game drive before sunrise! See incredible animals in the wild only found in this part of Africa. Breakfast will be back at the lodge, followed by an optional morning farm tour or relaxing at the beautiful property. Enjoy the property's pool or a guided birding tour. An afternoon game drive followed by a sundowner will round out this epic day. Enjoy a farm-to-table dinner at the lodge.

August 1 / Day Eleven: Our final day in Kenya is yours to enjoy however you'd like. Begin with another early morning game drive as no two are ever the same. Spend time journaling and preparing your heart to remember your experiences and how you can use your voice and influence to continue advocating for your sisters through Tirzah. Our farewell lunch will be at the Ololo Lodge with a guided discussion on our time together in Ethiopia and Kenya and the impact of your partnership and investment in women. Group departures will occur at various times throughout the afternoon\evening for returning home or a continued personal journey in Africa.
